Philanthropic foundations

This exhibit looks at the philanthropic principles behind the establishment of the Glasgow School of Cookery in 1875.  It shows the work of the Glasgow School and the West End School of Cookery and their merger to become the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science. 

Teaching the students

This exhibit looks at the range of courses and training taught at the Glasgow and West of Scotland College of Domestic Science  and then at the Queen's College, Glasgow.  It looks at the development of the syllabus and courses over time and the external factors which influenced change. 

Reaching the public

This exhibit looks at the ways in which the College shared its expertise to help the wider public.  Through lectures, exhibitions, publications and offering services to help the needy, the staff and students helped educate the public on a range of issues from healthy eating to raising awareness of the importance of domestic economy.
